The Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice is the world's
only foundation solely dedicated to funding LGBTI organizations in both the
United States and internationally. For more than 30 years, Astraea has been
raising funds and distributing grants based on the belief that all people can
participate in the philanthropic process--from giving to grantmaking. Today,
Astraea grantee and donor partners are fueling the movement for social, racial,
economic and
gender justice in villages, cities and towns around the world.

I have learned a lot from working collaboratively at
Astraea and specifically about issues faced by LGBTQ communities in
under-resourced countries. This is invaluable knowledge in my work as an artist
and activist.

Communications Internship: Gain experience in media,
communications, and fundraising at a global foundation. You will be involved in
a variety of marketing aspects including: press cultivation; media production for
fundraising campaigns; learning about online and new media content creation,
development, and management; campaign evaluation and web-based analytics and
research; and grassroots donor outreach and social networking efforts. Interns
will be involved in public relations strategy, video production and
post-production, as well as graphic design and production of rganization’s
e-newsletters and print publications.
Qualifications: Applicants should have a range of
experiences, knowledge and interest in LGBTQI communities, community
organizations, and the issues we are facing in this country and the world.
Applicants interested in our Communications Internship should have well-honed
analytic, research, and writing skills. Additionally, they should be interested
in learning, if not have prior experience in a range of media and communication
areas: social
networking, photography and video production, programs such as Final Cut Pro, Photoshop, and InDesign. Applicants should be eager to take initiative, be able to work well independently, and feel comfortable multitasking.

Time Commitment: Internships are ongoing, with a
minimum commitment of 3 months.
Arrangements can be made to work between 10 to 20 hours per week. We welcome applications for any start date.

Compensation/Credit: Internship is unpaid. School credits
