Asmita Resource Center for Women invites applications
from students for Summer and Winter Internship Programme and a
Regular Volunteering Programme.
Set up in 1991 to create space for women to come together,
facilitate feminist analysis, engage in critical dialogue and raise awareness
of gender issues, Asmita has been able to establish a visible and strong
network with feminist voice in the state and at the national and international
level. The centre aims to promote human rights of women, persons with
disabilities and youth especially from dalit, adivasi, transgender and minority
from both the rural and urban communities.
Chityala Ailamma Center for Interdisciplinary Research,
constituted by the Executive Committee of Asmita in 2009, to introduce
programmes specifically to strengthen student engagement and skills in higher
education, will be responsible for the Student Internship Programme.
Programme Offered: Summer Internship
(April-June 2014)
Winter Internship
(November-December 2014)
Volunteering Programme
is on an ongoing basis
Topics: Child Rights, Child Marriages and Women’s Human Rights.
Responsibilities will include:
- Legal
and social research,
- Assist
in writing research papers, discussion papers and documentation of work.
- Advocacy
efforts – including short documentary, case studies, surveys, training
material,
- Photo
documentation.
- General
support on various projects as per the requirement.
- Assist
in day-to-day administrative work in the office.
Eligibility: M.Phil First Year, P.G.D
in Journalism, M.A. Second year (Journalism/ Communication
Studies/ Development Studies), M.S.W Second year, LL.B Second year, B.A.LL.B
Fourth year or an equivalent degree in your country.
Language: English.
No. of Interns per Session: Four
Duration of Internship: Minimum four weeks
Application Packet should consist of Covering
Letter, Updated Resume, copy of Bonafide letter from your Institution or Head
of the Department (where applicable) and a two page statement of interest and
purpose.

The applicant should be based out of Hyderabad, India
since we would not be able to provide accommodation during the internship
period.
