Type of Contract :Internship
Post Level :Intern
Languages Required :English   Spanish
Duration of Initial Contract :5-6 Months
Expected Duration of Assignment :5-6 Months

Background

Currently, UNDP does not have a way to estimate the amount of Web sites maintained by its Country Offices and programmes. Each Country Office and a number of central units have their own websites with fragmented navigation or information across them as a whole and inconsistent adherence to the corporate look and feel. Each site has its own hosting, different underlying technologies and different methods of content management.
Additionally, UNDP headquarters has several separately managed sites with different content aimed at different demographics. To obviate these problems, UNDP at the global level commissioned the Web Upgrade Project. The project aims to standardize web management, reduce inefficiencies, improve UNDP’s global image, facilitate transparency, and ensure that the general public, the UNDP community (partners, donors, etc.), development professionals and programme staff can easily locate the information they need. Moreover, the sites need to be accessible in the widest sense – not only in terms of technical specifications, but in terms of language, design, cultural sensitivity via a variety of media sources, while incorporating translations and a range of formats. It needs to be clear to the external audience that the United Nations Development Programme exists as an interconnected, transparent system, and that there is a logical hierarchy of sites.
