Number of positions: 3 (married couples and teams
welcome)
General Function: To teach English as a second
language to Sri Lankan, Iraqi, Iranian, and Vietnamese refugees in Bogor,
Indonesia.
Specific
Job Duties:
ESL
Tutor
·
Conduct English language assessments for children,
youth, and adults
·
Develop ESL curriculum and fun lesson plans for
children, youth, and adults based on needs assessment
·
Develop creative, visual aids for teaching ESL
·
Conduct one-on-one tutoring sessions and group
sessions
·
Assist refugees to able to communicate in basic
English
·
Frequent visits to the field/students’ houses
Administrative
·
Record and file student attendance
·
Properly document the lesson plans, visual aids and
teaching materials
Assisting and Reporting
·
Submit a monthly student progress report to the
Project Coordinator
·
Assist the Project Coordinator in creating reports
requested by the Country Director
·
Assist the Project Coordinator in teaching ‘life
skills’ to refugees
·
Assist the Project Coordinator in
accessing ESL materials
·
Help the project raise funds for books
and other resources
·
Communicate with the Project
Coordinator about refugee needs
·
Encourage others to volunteer with
World Relief
·
Submit a post-assignment report to
World Relief
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
·
Agreement with, and adherence to, World
Relief’s mission statement, policies, and procedures
·
TESL/TESOL certificate from a reputable
institution preferred
·
Excellent written and oral
communications
·
Ability and desire to work with people
from various cultural, religious and social backgrounds
·
Independent and flexible
·
Proficient in Microsoft Office and social
media
·
Tamil/ Persian/ Arabic speaker a plus
Work Environment:
·
Pastoral style ministry with staff and guests
·
Travel to a variety of locations, conditions, and
cultures required
·
Office and living accommodations may be combined
·
May share living space and facilities with
coworkers
·
Modern amenities (electrical, plumbing, air
cooling) may not be available
·
Work may take place in locations which can be
volatile or lack formal security infrastructure
