Basic Computer Skills Trainer Volunteer

Position Location: Puncak, Indonesia

Start Date: Flexible

Length of Opportunity: 2 months - 1 year, depending on availability

Hours per week: 40

Number of positions: 4 (married couples and teams welcome)

General Function:  Teaching basic computer skills to refugees in Puncak, Indonesia

                                                             

Specific Job Duties:

Training

·         Assess the computer skills of participants

·         Develop a 2 – 3 month curriculum for teaching basic computer skills

·         Conduct computer literacy classes in an interesting and interactive way

·         Ensure that the computers and other equipment are maintained and properly cared for

·         Help the project raise funds for computers and books

·         Frequent field visits to the homes of participants

Administrative

·         Record and file participant attendance

·         Properly document the lesson plans, visual aids and training materials

Assisting and Reporting

·         Submit a monthly progress report to the Project Coordinator

·         Assist the Project Coordinator in creating reports requested by the Country Director

·         Assist the Project Coordinator in teaching ‘life skills’ to refugees

·         Assist the Project Coordinator in accessing the training materials

·         Communicate with the Project Coordinator about refugee needs

·         Encourage others to volunteer with World Relief

·         Submit a post-assignment report to World Relief

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: 

Agreement with, and adherence to, World Relief’s mission statement, policies, and procedures

Computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and social media

Training skills

Basic counseling ability

Strong Christian witness

Ability and desire to work with people from various cultural, religious, and social backgrounds

Independent and flexible

Work Environment:       

Pastoral style ministry with staff and guests

Travel to a variety of locations, conditions, and cultures required

Office and living accommodations may be combined

May share living space and facilities with coworkers

Modern amenities (electrical, plumbing, air cooling) may not be available

Work may take place in locations which can be volatile or lack formal security infrastructure
