territories. We seek qualified candidates for the position of Intern,
Disability Studies and Services in Washington, DC.
Position Description:
The Family Center on Technology and Disability
provides information on assistive and instructional technology to organizations
that work with families of children with disabilities. The project is funded by
the U.S. Department of Education.
Under the daily direction of Project Director
Jackie Hess, the intern will support the quality assurance of the Family
Center's two searchable databases and its listserv distribution network; will
help expand the project’s organizational and resource databases and listserv;
and will provide research and writing in support of the project’s newsletter
and other information resources.
Responsibilities:
- Quality
assure the FCTD resource review database by checking and updating website
links and contact information;
- Quality
assure the FCTD listserv by cross-checking the daily error summary with
the master listserv address database;
- Quality
assure the FCTD organizational database by checking and updating website
links and contact information;
- Identify
and write descriptions of resources for inclusion in the monthly
newsletter;
- Expand
the FCTD listserv by entering email addresses of AT experts and others
identified via the FCTD website;
- Identify
organizations to be included in the FCTD member network;
- Identify
and create contact information files for national assistive and
instructional technology experts;
- Identify
resources for the FCTD website;
- Participate
in research and product development activities as needed.
Minimum Requirements:
- High
school degree; one year college preferred
- Familiarity
with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Familiarity
with online search techniques
- Detail
orientation
- Accurate
keyboarding.
