The Women Peace and
Security Network Africa (WIPSEN-Africa), a Pan-African Women’s Non-Governmental
Organization, based in Accra Ghana, with office in Liberia is seeking for
highly motivated intern (s) to support in its Gender and Security
Sector/Governance Programme.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assist in
the implementation of the project ‘Mainstreaming Gender and Enhancing
Gender Responsiveness in the Security Sector by:
o Assisting in the organization of
workshops and trainings;
o Drafting concept notes of project activities;
o Contributing to the drafting of reports of
workshops and trainings;
o Contributing to the development of the
training programmes for the security sector institutions, in terms of design
and content, under the guidance of the Programme Team;
2. Write research papers
or policy brief on gender and security sector reform related issues in
connection with the project;
3. Support the WIPSEN-Africa
Team during field assessments in Africa;
4. Develop concept,
ideas that can be turned into projects;
5. Liaise with partners
involved in the Gender and Security Sector project;
6. Monitor
implementation of the project;
7. Take minutes of
meeting;
8. Assist the Programme
Team;
9. Contribute to the
fundraising under the guidance of the Programme Team:
10. Attend local, regional and international
conferences on behalf of WIPSEN-Africa;
11. Liaise with the admin. Officer in developing
MoUs and contracts for programme consultants;
12. Assist in other tasks to be determined by
WIPSEN-Africa’s Management Team.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. A Master of Arts
Degree in Peace Studies, Conflict Resolution, International Politics,
International Relations or Gender and Women’s Studies
2. A good knowledge of
Gender and Security Sector Reform; Peace Building, Peacekeeping and
Post-Conflict Reconstruction;
3. Knowledge of the
United Nations Security Council Resolutions on Women, Peace and Security (1325,
1820, 1888, 1889 and 1960), CEDAW and other legal frameworks on women, peace
and security in Africa;
4. Familiar with peace
and security issues in the African Context and African Peace and Security
Frameworks;
5. Good facilitation
skills and Presentation skills;
6. Previous experience
on Gender is highly desirable;
7. Fluent in English and
good command of French is desirable;
8. Good computer skills
(Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint; etc.);
9. Good writing and
reporting skills;
10. Ability to work in multicultural
environment;
11. Ability to work with minimum supervision and
proactive;
Interns will be responsible of finding their own
accommodation. However, WIPSEN-Africa can assist interns in the search of
accommodation. A monthly stipend will be provided for the duration of the
