Volunteer: Instructional Designer for Computer-Based Training Volunteer Operations Orientation Program

Background – Volunteer Operations provides strategic management and integrated operational engagement of Project HOPE’s volunteer platform across the enterprise to enhance service delivery. Volunteer Operations cross-cuts volunteers across all five practice areas and throughout the organization while diversifying and enhancing sources, venues, and activities.
Roles are to provide a centralized, operational backbone for all volunteer deployments to maintain standardized best practices; to design and implement policies, processes, and structures to align volunteer involvement with the mission and vision of the organization; and to provide coordinated consultation, communication, and oversight with HOPE program sites and department leaders to ensure an efficient and successful platform.

To continue to improve best practices and expectation management, as well as to ensure the volunteers are prepared and successful in their assignments, the department is looking to enhance and improve the current orientation and training program.

Overview – Volunteer Operations is seeking one qualified applicant to review the online, web-based, PowerPoint-driven Orientation and Training Curriculum and then add creative and appropriate SCORM-based improvements (using Captivate or Articulate) to further professionalize the module set. The current Orientation program consists of nine modules and is active on our Cornerstone OnDemand site.

The purpose of the work is to take the current set of modules and creatively improve their look and level of interaction – to make them look more professional while offering the user a more fun and enjoyable learning tool.

Deliverables – Completed set of tested and working Volunteer Operations orientation and training modules, with the appropriate enhancements. Once complete, no follow-up is necessarily required as Project HOPE will eventually have a staff officer trained and licensed on Articulate/Captivate and will be able to make minor edits or adjustments in the future, as needed.

Skills and Background Required – Successful candidates should possess the following:

• Instructional design background and experience

• Knowledge of SCORM and access to either the Articulate or Captivate tool (Cornerstone OnDemand interfaces with these tools only and thus this is an absolute requirement)

• Knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint

• Creative and independent thinker able to review the modules and, with minimal guidance, find ways to enhance the module design and create interactive, sleek improvements

Logistics – This project should require no travel to HOPE Center and should be able to be completed remotely.
