Learning & Performance Intern

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Learning and Performance Intern 
12 week internship based in Washington, D.C. Paid, part or full time.
Start date: January 2013

Simply put, when PSI employees perform better, there is greater health impact. That’s where our team comes in! We’re positioned to help staff worldwide access the right kinds of learning activities to help them do their best. 
Join us! Our team is looking for an intern to help support learning initiatives for our staff worldwide

As a Learning & Performance intern, you’ll jump in with our small yet fast-paced team to help out with a variety of projects. Everything from assessing training needs to assisting with accounting documents. You’ll also offer new ideas and be a key team member!

You will:
  • Create needs assessments and evaluations for learning opportunities across PSI.
  • Provide support to the 8,000 + PSI employees worldwide in the use of our online tools (think online university, internal social network and document sharing site).
  • Co-develop learning and performance resources (things like surveys and toolkits) with the team.
  • Put together the PSI U Voice, our internal newsletter highlighting online learning, from start to finish including selecting star participants to highlight and interview.
  • Pick out art supplies and toys we use for our performance improvement sessions.
  • Process and submit accounting documents.
  • Coordinate logistics for DC brown bag presentations.
  • Assist with general administrative tasks as needed.
  • Never fetch coffee!

Do you have the following qualities and skills? If so, we might be a good fit!

  • Problem Solver: Love to figure out complex problems and constantly think about how to make things efficient.
  • Multitasking Machine: You’re able to juggle multiple tasks at once while ‘staying calm and carrying on’.
  • The Knowledge: A Bachelor’s Degree. Experience in web development, instructional design or business admin a plus.
  • Drive: You are assertive and are always looking for ways to contribute. You aren’t afraid to share your own ideas.
  • Team Player: You ‘play well’ with others. Must give good high fives!
  • Flexibility: You can adapt to changing environments and work with a diverse set of people from around the world.
  • Language Skills: Fluent in English. Can speak French or Spanish? Great! This will come in handy for making connections with staff around the world.
  • Computer Whiz: Command of Microsoft Office. Adobe InDesign and/or websites a plus. An overall comfort with and interest in IT is essential.
  • Details. Details. Details: You pay attention to them and focus on quality and consistency
  • Think Big: You care about pressing issues, like providing health care to the world’s poor. Impact is a priority.
  • Need for Speed: Ready and willing to go, go, go!
