Intership - Visual Identify Designer - Brussels (Belgium)

Nonviolent Peaceforce (NP) is an international humanitarian NGO pioneering the concept and practice of unarmed civilian peacekeeping.  Now entering its second decade, NP has programs in South Sudan, Philippines, South Caucasus region and Myanmar.  NP’s global activities are developed and managed in the Head Office in Brussels, with a fundraising office in Minneapolis, USA.  NP’s unarmed civilian peacekeepers live and work among conflict affected communities. They reduce violence and protect civilians by engaging constructively with all sides to the conflict and using those relationships to change behavior. In Mindanao, Philippines, NP plays an official role in monitoring of the latest ceasefire agreement.


The Position
This unpaid internship vacancy is in NP’s Communications Department, and reports directly to the Communications Coordinator. NP’s Head Office in Brussels has a small team with global responsibilities. The Communications Department is responsible for ongoing day-to-day outreach and promotion of the organization as well as for planning and implementing activities. In 2013, NP wants to launch an entirely reviewed version of its website, including a new design, more interactive content and a renewed visual.

Key Functions
The intern will be assigned the following functions:
  • Produce the design and template of the new NP website, following the guidelines and expectations of the management team
  • Work with the IT responsible in Brussels to support the building of the website.
  • Support development of promotional and communications material (i.e. brochure, newsletters, books, multimedia and online products, letterheads, short promotional video etc.)
  • Assist in website review process and growing social media presence
  • Develop an email signature for all NP staff (linking social media, eventually supporting specific campaigns)
  • Other designing, media, administrative and logistical tasks as needed
