Volunteering in India with Frishta Children's Village

If you have teaching or medical skills, or just a heart for children you should try this very rewarding experience. You'll have some great fun and there will also be time for sight seeing in north India, such as the Taj Mahal and/or the Himalayas.


Activities you could take part in during volunteer placement
Take part in a medical camp in a rural village in Punjab. Provide treatment, medicines and advice
Supervise the Frishta children during meal and play times
Tutor them in English (simple word spelling & spoken English)
Assist them with their homework
Read stories to the children (in English)
Art, crafts, games, etc. (limited only by your level of creativity)

Other activities
Visit the children's school
Participate in food shopping at the local farmers markets
Shop for inexpensive clothes, crafts and souvenirs

Sight-seeing opportunities
Tour Chandigarh, 'The City Beautiful', capital of Punjab
Take the Himalayan small gauge railway up the mountains to Shimla
Visit Delhi and Agra (Taj Mahal)
