Internship: Volunteer Coordinator

Help us recruit and manage our volunteers so that we can share our story more widely and help even more children. Working with the Events and Volunteer Manager, you will be the point of contact for all those interested in or currently volunteering with HOPE.


Ideal for an experienced administrator, office manager, retired teacher or someone who is willing to give their time, help encourage and inspire others and feel a part of Hope for Children.

Tasks can include:
PLEASE NOTE: This role will vary depending upon the skills of the volunteer.
- Helping to promote Voluntary Opportunities available at HOPE and recruit new volunteers
- Communicate with volunteers and send the required supportive information
- Reply to emails and answer phone calls from volunteers (both current and those interested)
- Coordinate volunteers and encourage fundraising or speaker events
- Manage a wide range of tasks and people involved in different projects/voluntary opportunities
- Maintain records so to enable full support of all volunteers and voluntary activities
- Develop written and oral reports on voluntary activities

Desirable Skills:
You should have the skills to carry out some of the following tasks but don't worry if you don't have them all as the role can be developed over time.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Confident using Microsoft Word, Excel and the internet
- Competent with administration
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage a wide range of tasks
- Ability to deal with a diverse range of people
- Ability to inspire and motivate others
- Ability to cope with limited resources, seize opportunities and think creatively
- An empathy and understanding of volunteer needs
- Ability to deal with information in a confidential manner and respond with
- Sensitivity to the opinions of others
- Flexible and non-judgemental approach to people and work

Preferable:
- Experience of working across different sectors and developing links with other agencies
- Experience of managing or coordinating projects and delivering volunteer work - an interest in using social networking platforms

Additional information:
This is an unpaid voluntary opportunity based in the HOPE office (Hertfordshire, Hemel Hempstead).
Minimum commitment of 2/3days per week for 3/6months. Travel expenses will be covered within reason.
