Graphic Design Internship

We are a "co-creation studio" in Amsterdam where design and innovation is directing the work we do: responding to and social issues worldwide. We work directly with local communities in developing countries. Butterfly Works has two departments. Our Design & Branding department co-creates inspiring life style products and concepts, and enables access to global markets and trade networks to establish successful brands.
Our Social Campaigns & Learning department co-creates innovative learning programs and social awareness campaigns, using new media as an educational tool in a creative way. We believe connecting design and content has a very strong impact. We work together with organizations in the public and private sector, educational institutes and individual experts. We are a unique organization in which new media, design and innovation play an important role. Butterfly Works was founded in 2003 and has a core team of 10 designers and producers and countless co-creators across 22 countries.

Are you highly motivated, creative and conceptual?
The internship: Being an intern you will support us in our graphic design work. Such as: brand identity, web design, info graphics, illustrations, prints, presentations. Profile: You are enthusiastic, creative, conceptual, accurate and practical, you also have a developed spatial awareness. You're an all-round designer who in addition to product design, also have graphic design skills. You love to work in a dynamic, project-oriented work environment. You can join in the creative process but you're also willing to perform preparatory work and you are willing to take all facets of the design work on your shelf. You feel it is important that concepts are graphically strong and you like a precise and accurate finalisation of your work. You know how to DTP. You want to know more about working within an international business environment.

Qualifications and knowledge:
  • you are recently graduated or currently in a bachelor level study;
  • you are familiar with the different stages of the design process;
  • you have experience working with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator en InDesign;
  • you have experience in web design is an advantage;
  • you have excellent knowledge of (Dutch and) English, both verbal and written;
  • you are entrepreneurial and work independently;
  • affinity with the social mission of Butterfly Works and with international social issues.
How to apply:
We offer an interesting and challenging internship in an international work field. The intern will be part of the team. You will be working 32 hours a week.
