People in Need (PIN) is a Czech NGO that provides relief and development assistant in over 20 countries around the world. Formed in 1992, it is the biggest organisation of its kind in post-communist Europe, providing relief where it is needed, and empowering civil society at home and abroad.

People in Need's aim in Cambodia is to strengthen the capacity of local citizens and institutions in order to provide people with opportunities to positively transform their lives whilst not undermining the natural environment. PIN has operated in the country since 2008 and currently works in 5 provinces. PIN in cooperation with 7 local partner NGOs supports the implementation of the Royal Government of Cambodia's National Strategic Development Plan, specifically in 3 sectors: markets development for improved livelihoods & environment; maternal and child health; and disaster preparedness & response. Their annual financial value has been over 1 million USD. PIN closely cooperates with relevant Government departments and Alliance2015 partners.

Main intern’s task:

To support PIN’s local partner organizations in developing their capacities required for ensuring the quality of their livelihoods projects and further development of their programming.

Specific responsibilities:

Task

Build partners’ capacities in effective monitoring & evaluation: coach partners in data collection methods support partners in data collection, entry and analysis assist with ensuring quality of M&E data

Build partners’ project development & fundraising capacities: assist partners with project formulation provide support in proposal development coach partners on defining indicators and objectives

Develop partners’ promotion & communication capacities: assist partners with the developing and/ or upgrading their websites and promotion materials in an attractive manner provide select staff with tailored English lessons

Monitor the quality of partners’ activities in the field supervise that specific activities are implemented in desired quality

Other support to PIN and/ or partners as assigned by PIN’s PM focusing on development of PIN and partners’ programming

PIN offers:

• extensive experience to gain practical work experience in managing advanced, multi-donor funded development projects
• regular support from the Program Manager
• coverage of the following costs: accommodation in Kampong Chhnang, local transports, communication (phone, Internet), insurance, vaccinations (if necessary)

The intern will have to pay for international flights tickets and visas.

Required qualification:

• Existing working experience in a developing country (at least 4-6 month stay) or/ and longer-term  intensive experience at organization’s headquarters (at least one year)
• Fluent in English (both spoken and written)
• Good understanding of main development issues
• Degree in Development or related subject (Agriculture, Environmental Protection, Business etc.)
• Clearly defined expertise/ experience in a relevant sector/type of work is an advantage
