Intern, LEGADA Project

FHI 360 serves more than 60 countries, all 50 U.S. states and all U.S. territories. We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Intern, LEGADA in Washington, D.C.


Position Summary:

FHI 360’s Global Connections Department engages with educational institutions and individuals in the United States and around the work to strengthen and diversify academic exchanges and education linkages.  The LEGADA project is an online educational initiative working to address domestic abuse issues through information dissemination and public education via the program’s website.  Under the supervision of the Program Officer I, the intern will provide website resource material development support to the LEGADA program.


Major Responsibilities:

Website Resource Development: 
  • Conduct targeted research and development of new materials
  • Translate content from English to Persian/Dari
  • Edit and cross-check materials in both Persian/Dari and English
  • Support project tasks as requested
  • Conduct program related research as requested
  • Upload materials to website as requested.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s obtained and/or current student at any level (undergraduate or graduate) in one of the following or related fields:  Anthropology, Sociology, Communications, Media Studies, Development Studies, Developmental Education, International Affairs, International Development, International Relations, International Studies, Women’s Studies, Social Science, Persian Studies, Near Eastern Studies, Adult & Continuing Education, and other job-related field required, OR equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Interest and/or experience in domestic abuse issues.
  • Interest and/or experience in translation work.
  • Strong Persian/Dari and English language skills.
  • Excellent professional verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in basic functions of WinXP, Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Organized; sets priorities; meets deadlines; able to multi-task.
  • Consistently demonstrates ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner in order to meet current needs.
  • Ability to work independently or on a team of program projects.
