Position Summary
IREX seeks a Documentation Team Lead to support data
collection and processing work for the Syrian Justice & Accountability
Centre (SJAC). The Documentation Team Lead will use their expertise to build
the
center’s strategy and capacity in data collection. He/She will also oversee
the recruiting and management of the center’s documentation staff and will lead
and oversee the documentation activities and operations.
Duties & Responsibilities
Research, leadership and management • In coordination with
experts in the field, research and develop the center’s documentation strategy,
methodology, implementation plans and guidelines for internal and external use.
• Research and develop a clear and consistent definitions and descriptions of
Tags used in the documentation process that meets international standards. Such
definition should be clear enough and detailed so it can be used as a reference
and guide by the Data Entry/Analyst staff. Also update the definitions as
needed during the data entry process to disambiguate the tags. • Develop training
materials, guidelines and policies on documentation topics including (Data
collection from sources, Vetting, Sharing information, Analysis questions, team
communication, etc.) Staff management • Recruit Data Entry staff and Data
Analysts and make recommendations on the center’s future needs. • Conduct
training/orientation for the new data entry/analyst staff. • Manage and
coordinate among staff and management to facilitate smooth operations. •
Coordinate with other divisions of the center as needed Documentation
operations management • Act as the in-house expert for all questions regarding
documentation. • Monitor the data entry quality and consistency by reviewing
data entered by staff and identify issues on a daily basis and takes remedial
action to resolve them. • Identify problematic areas and gaps in documentation
and resolve them. • Perform data entry in Arabic and English when needed. •
Produce analysis reports using the center’s data. • Be able to aggregate
different pieces of information into groups and categories. • Perform other
tasks as needed.
Qualifications
• Degree in law, journalism, political science, humanities
studies or other related fields. • Previous 3-5 years of experience in
Documentation, Data Analysis, Data collection and vetting. • Knowledge in the
international best practices in documentation for transitional justice
purposes. • Exposure to Transitional Justice concepts and mechanisms. • Willing
to work outside of normal hours. • Ability to manage a globally distributed
team using various technology tools. • Proficient in Google collaboration stack
including Google document, Drive, Spreadsheet, etc.) • Proficient in MS Word,
Excel, Access, and PowerPoint. • Strong work ethic, commitment to accuracy, and
ability to handle confidential information • Complete proficiency in English. •
Ability to function professionally and effectively in verbal and written
English and Arabic
