The Alliance for Peacebuilding (AfP) is seeking 2 part-time
Presidential Interns for the Fall of 2013, to work at the intersection of the
international peacebuilding field in our nation’s capital. This is a wonderful
opportunity to learn about the peacebuilding field from the inside, with broad
exposure to a wide variety of civil society organizations, government and
military partners, and representatives from fields closely related to
peacebuilding. The Presidential Intern will engage with AfP’s network of
partners both overseas and in Washington
, learn about all of the latest news,
events, jobs and research going on in the peacebuilding field, and will
represent AfP at important events in Washington, DC. The Alliance for
Peacebuilding is a membership-based network of nearly eighty organizations and
hundreds of professionals devoted to building sustainable peace and security

Summary:
The Presidential Intern will work directly with the
President & CEO on a variety of projects, including fundraising, attending
meetings, note-taking, and other ad hoc research projects related to AfP’s work
on conflict affected and fragile states, the links between peacebuilding and
development, and ensuring the legality of peacebuilding in situations involving
groups on proscribed lists. Internship (15-20 hrs/wk) will accommodate a
flexible schedule. Internship will begin in May and end in August. Preference
will be given to candidates that can commit to the entire internship time
period, or stay on through the fall.
Qualifications:
At least 3 years of completed college coursework ● Strong
computer skills and high proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially
Excel ● Enthusiasm and commitment to the organization’s mission ● Proactive,
independent and team-oriented work ethic ● Fundraising experience a plus ●
Excellent writing skills, organizational skills and attention to detail ● Prior
professional workplace experience ● Ability to manage multiple projects
simultaneously and meet deadlines ● Positive attitude and an ability to engage
with a wide variety of people ● Knowledge and familiarity with peacebuilding,
conflict resolution, and/or international affairs a plus.
