Solar Service and Engineering Intern

The Internship Program:
Burro internships offer an opportunity to work closely with the Burro team to accelerate projects that are vital to Burro's overall mission and goals. Interns interact on a daily basis with Ghanaians from all parts of society; village-based resellers and clients, urban shop owners and petty traders, interns from local universities, and a wide variety of professionals in different fields. The result is both a cultural and technical immersion in a fast-paced learning environment. As a Burro intern, you'll learn what it means to Do More in Ghana.
The Position:
Burro strives to provide best-value products to meet the needs of our customers and best-in-class after-sales service. The Solar Service and Engineering Intern will work with Burro's Service Assistant to expand Burro's service capability by designing a rigorous system for testing, tracking and repairing faulty solar products as well as evaluating current and prospective products to recommend improvements. Specific duties include:
  • Create protocols to identify common faults in Burro products and practical guidelines for repairing or replacing them, their assemblies, and their components
  • Build an internal capability to successfully implement these protocols
  • Evaluate 3rd-party firms, engineers, and technicians to identify best practices and top local talent in solar repairs and installations
  • Assess current and prospective products to identify performance concerns and cost-effective enhancements
Qualifications:
  • At least two years' experience towards a degree in Electrical Engineering with strong track record in solar, charging systems, batteries, LED drivers, and USB preferred.
  • Demonstrated history of honesty, strong work ethic, self-motivation, and problem solving
  • Willing to relocate to Koforidua, Ghana

Support:
This position is unpaid, however interns are encouraged to apply for funding, and Burro will provide all necessary documentation to support that process. Housing and rides to and from the airport will be provided.
