SUMMER 2014 MONITORING & EVALUATION INTERNSHIP

The Alliance for Peacebuilding (AfP) is seeking a part-time, unpaid intern to directly support the implementation of AfP's organization-wide 2014 Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) plan.The intern will work closely with staff across AfP to help track the impact and learning of AfP's work through Outcome Mapping and Action Research.


Internship Summary
The intern's primary responsibility is to assist in the implementation of AfP's organization-wide M&E plan, including gathering and analyzing data on programs, membership, events and activities to track learning and impact across the organization. Specific duties include interviewing staff on a monthly basis about the impact of their work and lessons learned, analyzing quantitative and qualitative data, contributing to the biannual M&E reflection meetings, assisting with communications, and managing arrangements for meetings and other duties as assigned by the Director for Learning and Evaluation.
The intern will commit 15-20 hrs/wk from May to late August. Please note that this internship will take place in Los Angeles, California, where AfP's Director for Learning and Evaluation is located. Preference will be given to candidates who are located in the Los Angeles metro area and can commit to continuing the internship into the fall.

Required Qualifications
 Educational background and/or professional experience in peace building or related fields (democracy and governance, human rights, international development, etc.)
 Experience and/or knowledge of program monitoring and evaluation (M&E) concepts
 Excellent writing and communications skills and attention to detail
 At least three years completed college coursework, preferably four years (Graduate students are encouraged to apply)
 Strong computer skills, high proficiency in Word and Excel
 Enthusiasm and commitment to the peace building field
 Proactive, independent and team-oriented work ethic
 Ability manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines
 Previous professional workplace experience

Preferred Qualifications
 Experience and/or knowledge with Outcome Mapping and/or Action Research, and interviewing data collection methodologies
 Experience with quantitative and qualitative data analysis in peace building or related fields
 Experience working in a non-profit setting
