Research and Advocacy Intern

Salary: £14,146 per annum, pro rata
Based: London
Duration: 9 months, 2 days per week.

We are currently looking to recruit an Intern to support administration, research and advocacy for the International Institutions Programme at International Alert (Alert). The programme works on and with organisations including the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, UN and EU supporting reforms and programming to strengthen local peacebuilding and conflict-sensitive development. In practice we work closely with Alert’s country teams to deliver research, accompaniment services and training and participate in global debates on policy and practice reforms.

The successful candidate will be highly detail orientated, organised and able to demonstrate skills in both qualitative and quantitative research. Core tasks will include:
·supporting the administration of the programme
·producing desk-based research inputs (literature reviews, gathering and manipulating statistical data, actor mapping)
·monitoring and documenting shifts and developments in target institutions to support Alert’s advocacy
With a degree in a relevant subject, you will have knowledge and/or experience of international institutions and peace and conflict issues. You’ll have a talent for identifying and tracking down appropriate literature, data sources and identifying its main themes. French language skills and an ambition to work in the peacebuilding sector are desirable.
