The Alliance for Peacebuilding (AfP) is seeking a part-time
editorial and marketing intern to assist the development of AfP’s new online
publication, Building Peace: A Forum for Peace and Security in the 21st Century
(http://buildingpeaceforum.com/). The editorial & marketing intern will
be a vital member of the editorial team of Building Peace, helping to
coordinate the editing and marketing processes associated with the production
and circulation of the online magazine. The intern will have many opportunities
to participate in the growth of a new and innovative publication while
connecting with AfP’s network of partners both overseas and in Washington.

organizations and hundreds of professionals devoted to building sustainable

Summary
The intern will support the Editor-in-Chief and AfP
Membership & Outreach Manager to develop features and articles with expert
authors, engage with the publication’s Editorial Board and design team, and
strategize for the promotion and distribution of the publication. A critical
function of this position is coordination of various time-sensitive processes.
The ideal candidate will have some marketing and communications experience as
well as demonstrated ability to coordinate processes and meet deadlines.
The internship (15-20 hrs/wk) will begin in May and end in
August, and is unpaid. It will accommodate a flexible schedule and take place
in Washington, DC. AfP is willing to work with the candidate’s higher education
institution for course credit, if applicable.
Qualifications
At least three years completed college coursework; graduate
students encouraged to apply ● Excellent writing skills and attention to detail
● Proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines ●
Experience with communications and marketing, including Search Engine
Optimization ● Both independent and collaborative work ethic ● Positive
attitude and an ability to engage with a wide variety of people ● Experience or
familiarity with peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and/or international
affairs a plus.
