Description

FINCA International, one of the world's leading microfinance institutions, provides financial services to more than 950,000 clients through 21 wholly-owned and operated subsidiaries in Africa, Eurasia, Latin America and the Greater Middle East.FINCA Haiti is currently looking for candidates for its Credit Apprenticeship Program (CAP). This program will offer a unique opportunity for the candidate to enter into the microfinance sector as a Loan Officer-in-Training with exposure to all aspects of operations from loan origination to branch management. Candidates will gain knowledge of products and services and hands-on experience working directly with our clients. In addition, candidates will participate in projects aligned with various institutional priorities. The duration of this program is 6 months, renewable until 9 months. The apprenticeship requires self-funding from the apprentice including his/her return ticket to the country of assignment and a subscription to emergency evacuation insurance. A small stipend is provided to help offset living expenses. FINCA encourages candidates to seek funding from universities, foundations, fellowships and grants. Ideal Profile: · Bachelors degree or equivalent and 1-2 years work experience · Previous field experience in developing countries required, preferably in the region of assignment · Study/initial work experience in the microfinance, finance and/or development fields highly desirable, · Demonstrated strong academic performance in relevant areas · Ability to work independently and in a start-up environment; ideal candidates are entrepreneurial and self-starters · Strong commitment to microfinance, · Flexibility and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively · Teamwork skills and respect for cultural differences, · Leadership skills and experience in an academic and/or professional setting · Fluency in local language: Russian, Spanish, French, or Arabic and English required.
