The mission of the Human Development Report
Office (HDRO) is to advance human development. The goal is to contribute
towards the expansion of opportunities, choice and freedom. HDRO works
towards this goal by promoting innovative new ideas, advocating
practical policy changes, and constructively challenging policies and
approaches that constrain human development. HDRO works with others to
achieve change through writing and research, data analysis and
presentation, support to national and regional reports and outreach and
advocacy work.

Internship Summary
The objective of this internship is to provide participants with the opportunity to learn about Human Development Reports, their various themes and development issues; as well as human development indices and efforts to raise the quality of these reports; to be knowledgeable about current international development issues; to master skills in basic analysis, statistics and research work; to be exposed to a large database of human development relevant indicators and indices, and related information.
Interns’ Expenses:
Interns are not financially remunerated by UNDP. All costs connected with an intern's participation in the Programme must be borne by: the nominating institution, related institution or government, which may provide the required financial assistance to its students; or the student, who will have to obtain financing for subsistence and make his/her own arrangements for travel (including to and from the office), visas, accommodation, etc.
Subsequent Employment:
The purpose of the Internship Programme is not to lead to further employment with UNDP but to complement an intern’s studies. Therefore, there should be no expectation of employment at the end of an internship. |
