Description

FINCA International, one of the world's leading microfinance institutions, provides financial services to more than 950,000 clients through 21 wholly owned and operated subsidiaries in Africa, Eurasia, Latin America and the Greater Middle East. FINCA International is currently looking for a IT Security Awareness Training Volunteer, to be based in Washington, DC,  New York City, Chicago, or Kazan, Russia. The volunteer would ideally begin immediately and last 3-6 months.

We have an exciting opportunity for individuals interested in information security and international exposure. We are in the second year of a global information security awareness training program, impacting nearly 10,000 employees worldwide, and are looking for ways to improve our delivery to our users. This includes analyzing the work done in 2012, seeing how we can do better in the future, and building those “lessons-learned” into an executable plan for 2013. This job will support employees working in 23 countries and speaking multiple languages (English, Spanish, Russian, French and others). Training is currently delivered online and in classrooms, and is supplemented by emails, posters and other promotional messaging. ESSENTIAL DUTIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Evaluating feedback from previous cycle and recommending improvements
  • Coordinating security awareness training for a global audience
  • Tracking global/regional/national training progress
  • Regular stakeholder communications

  • Prepare RACI chart for supporting subsidiary/regional/global staff
  • Preparation of language-localized Learning Management System (LMS) on Virtual Machine
  • Documentation of deployment procedures
  • Support of local LMS implementation where required
  • Generation of reports from data obtained by Training Systems
  • Documentation and execution of communications plan
  • Other special projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong organizational skills; accuracy and attention to detail; ability to multi-task and complete projects by deadline;

  • Ability to take initiative and work independently;
  • International experience is beneficial;
  • Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and under time pressure;
  • Education or training experience desirable;
  • Available 24-40 hours per week (minimum of 20 hours per week required), for 3-6 months (preference given to applicants with long-term availability).

Education & Experience             
College Graduate or Graduate student focusing on information security, computer science, education, or a related field; Advanced Degree a plus

Language Skills
Fluency in English required. Competency in Russian, Spanish or French a plus

Computer Skills                                                     
Proficiency in a full range of MS Office applications (specifically, intermediate Excel proficiency); experience with Visio highly desirable;

Computer Science/IT studies and PHP scripting / MySQL knowledge desirable

  • Production of documentation (RACI chart, LMS deployment procedure, and communications plan)
  • Timely delivery of weekly status reports
  • Delivery of security awareness training to at least 80% of targeted staff in each subsidiary
