Description

FINCA International, an international microfinance non-profit network is seeking an Intern for our Direct Marketing Team based out of our headquarters in Washington DC. FINCA offers meaningful internships to high-potential students. For a 20 week, part-time school year commitment or a 10 week, full-time summer commitment, participants are assigned substantive projects and receive developmental feedback to gain a better understanding of the role of direct marketing at one of the world's preeminent microfinance organizations.
In addition to learning about direct marketing, over the course of their assignment, the intern will receive insight into the dynamic microfinance sector and the operations of a large, professional fundraising department that cultivates relationships and solicits donations and grants from individuals, government agencies, foundations and corporations around the world.
High Impact Projects
You will work as part of the Direct Marketing team. Half the assignment will be devoted to designing and implementing 1-2 projects that you will own. Potential project areas include social media push, database administration, copy writing, or creative development and production. These challenging, highly valued projects have measurable goals and objectives and are achievable during your tenure. Your recommendations will shape our decisions.  The other half of the assignment will consist of providing administrative support to the team: preparing and editing communications with donors, conducting research on prospective or active donors, data entry, filing, etc. Interns also will become familiar with Raiser’s Edge, a donor database used by more than 13,000 nonprofits, as well as Sphere, a comprehensive online fundraising system.
Job Requirements
  • Undergraduate student (preference given to juniors, or rising juniors, and seniors; preference for students majoring in marketing, communications, information science, international relations or business)
  • Strong communication, analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Self-starter who is results-oriented and exhibits responsibility, creativity and intellectual curiosity
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
