Fellow - Knowledge Management/Information Strategy

CARE is seeking a talented fellow to support the Program Quality Unit’s mission goal:
 “Amplifying the voices of the poor and the marginalized in ways that influence public opinion, development practice, and policy at all levels. This occurs as the knowledge drawn from our grass roots and global experience is channeled through purposeful relationships with civil society, government, and the private sector.”
This goal envisages a change process towards becoming a knowledge-driven organization, and will thus contribute to CARE Bangladesh’s strategic direction on “Learning Culture” and make improvements in the following areas:

  • Generating knowledge based on its field-tested experience in social justice and alleviating poverty
  • Sharing our knowledge externally and internally in order to influence policy and increase impact
  • Producing documentable innovative development approaches and strategies that can be applied more widely in Bangladesh to increase impact on policy decisions and on reducing poverty and marginalization
  • Using both knowledge and experience to collaborate and work collectively with other organizations towards eradicating poverty and marginalization
  • Supporting the Program Quality unit to develop a clear knowledge management (KM) strategy that facilitates the shift to become a knowledge-driven organization with a strong learning culture

Responsibilities
  • Review current knowledge management and learning documents and  frameworks that exist in the country office (including projects), and facilitate reviews/consultation processes (with regional and CARE Bangladesh headquarter colleagues ) including key partners to draft the KM strategy for CARE Bangladesh
  • Facilitate reviews/consultation processes with regional staff and CARE Bangladesh headquarter's senior staff members to work out workshops consultation
  • Facilitate workshops with key staff to draft a “how-to-do guide” to roll out the KM strategy connecting all parts of the organization
  • Pilot of KM and learning initiatives based upon newly developed KM strategy (the pilot may locate at project level) – this would involve a practical demonstration of a small-scale or pilot application of KM tools and approaches identified as priorities in the KM and learning strategy
  • Further refine the KM and how-to guide (if needed) – this stage involves a further iteration of thinking from the processes of strategy development and pilot testing as the basis for larger-scale implementation or “roll-out” of KM and learning approaches (this is likely to involve a combination of:  adapting and, where necessary, re-engineering current procedures and processes to allow space for better reflection and learning, and ensuring that new processes, systems and technologies are developed in line with clear, user-defined demands and needs)

Required Skills
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office
  • Degree in strategic communications, social sciences, or related discipline is preferable
