Overview
We are seeking a creative professional to assist our Communications and Marketing Manager in generating content for our TheCityFix.com blog and EMBARQ.org news. This internship is ideal for anyone pursuing a degree in communications, marketing, public relations, environmental science, English, liberal arts, or related studies. You will get real-world experience in a fast-paced environment. Internships may vary in length depending on your schedule, interest, and abilities.
Responsibilities
  • 70% Write, edit, and publish online
  • 15% Research news stories, blogs, on new initiatives and trends, interact with and assist EMBARQ experts in promoting their work
  • 5% Social media engagement
  • 5% Email marketing
  • 5% Organize content on websites, databases, social media
Qualifications
  • College student, or recent graduate, pursuing a degree in communications, marketing, public relations, environmental science, English, liberal arts, or related studies.
  • Preference given to candidates with interest in sustainability marketing and communications.

Core Competencies
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Expert knowledge of MS Word and PowerPoint
Taste for design, graphic design, and beauty in simplicity
Extremely well organized
Research ability

Preferred skills and experience
Experience with Drupal 7 and Wordpress
Knowledge of photo cropping/editing software
Experience in developing marketing materials, working with videos, podcasting, blogs, web
content management, graphics and email systems
Basic HTML experience

Salary
Commensurate with education, experience and position responsibilities.

Reports To: This position is based in the Washington, DC office of the EMBARQ Network and reports to EMBARQ’s Communications and Marketing Manager
