Techno-Pedagogical Assistant at the Assistance Division

Activity rate: full time

Purpose of the position

The Assistance Division of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has an opening for one paid internship at its Geneva Headquarters. The aim of Assistance is to preserve life and/or restore the dignity of individuals and/or communities affected by armed conflict or other situations of violence. Assistance covers the unmet essential needs of individuals and/or communities as determined by their social and cultural environment.
These needs vary. They are assessed in close consultation with the communities affected. Responses, while being as varied as the needs, mainly address issues relating to health, water, sanitation, shelter and economic security. They may consist in directly providing goods and services or in encouraging the authorities and other actors to shoulder their responsibilities, or in a combination of both approaches.
In this framework, the Assistance Division ensures that its staff has the relevant skills and subsequently provides them with adequate training. It is currently developing various training for field staff. As this staff is stationed in different offices around the world, a considerable part of the training will be through on-line distant learning.

Your tasks

Under the joined supervision of the Training Responsible and the Techno-pedagogical Adviser of the Assistance Division, the intern will be responsible for:
  • developing the content on e-learning authoring tools (Adobe captivate, Scenari Opale, Articulate)
  • mapping of available online resources useful for competencies development of Assistance Field Staff
  • capture and/or transcription of content materials of face to face training

Qualification

  • minimum bachelor degree in Pedagogical Studies and Science of Education
  • excellent command of verbal and written English and the necessary level to evolve in a French speaking working environment
  • basic knowledge in instructional design
  • basic knowledge of distance learning technologies

Conditions

  • working hours: 40 hours per week, part-time negotiable
  • salaried internship
  • period of internship: one year starting August 2013
  • work permit in Switzerland: taken care of by the ICRC (carte de légitimation)
  • all interns are responsible for all expenses and costs incurred in undertaking an internship with the ICRC
