Department
Description
The Radar and Signal Analysis Department provides
system analysis and design, algorithm development, and hardware development for
a wide variety of radio-frequency (RF) communications, geolocation, and radar
missions. Our purview includes terrestrial,
airborne, and spaceborne systems for both NW and WFO missions. Our expertise includes radar (fuzing, MTI,
and SAR), digital communications, waveform development, waveform detection,
signal processing, receiver development, and coherent and traditional TTL. We actively work with our sponsors to
understand their complete mission space, including exploitation of organic
assets for novel capability and/or enhanced performance. We intimately partner with other departments
within the Advanced RF business area and throughout Sandia to provide complete
solutions to our sponsors.
Job Summary
Provides basic-level support within a science and
engineering environment involving assignments that may include assisting with
research, application of project design and diagnostics, testing and
documentation, development and analysis of technology options, and assembly and
troubleshooting.

technical staff with developmental research, analysis of technology and
engineering options, project design, testing, formulating conclusions, data
collection, and analyzing experimental data.
Job
specifications:
Participate and contribute to technical projects
within the Advanced RF Group. Learn to
operate lab equipment specific to the design and manufacture of radio frequency
(RF) systems and subsystems.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Basic knowledge of technical principles and
processes.
Pursued understanding of a variety of research
tools.
Basic oral and written communication skills.
Ability to contribute in a team environment.
Basic knowledge of a suite of software, including
Microsoft Office.
Required
The successful candidate must meet the following
Sandia Student Intern Requirements: attending a local high school near the site
location, full-time HS enrollment as defined by the school, a minimum
cumulative GPA of 3.2/4.0, the ability to work up to 25 hours per week during
the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer. Minimum 16
years of age. U.S. citizenship.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Tools (Excel,
Word, Power Point). Current enrollment
in advanced math courses in an Albuquerque, NM area high school.
Desired
Familiarity with any modern programming or
scripting languages.
Security Clearance
Position requires a Department of Energy
(DOE)-granted L-level security clearance to start.
This position requires an active Department of
Energy (DOE)-granted security clearance before beginning the job
responsibilities. If selected and you do not hold an active DOE clearance, your
start date will be affected.
Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a
pre-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law
enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education
verifications. Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a
DOE L-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
