Overview
The World Resources Institute’s Climate and Energy Program seeks a highly motivated full-time intern for a period of 3 months to join its International Climate Initiative. The intern will provide administrative and research support for the implementation of a strategy aiming to build, by 2015, an international enabling environment capable of generating collective climate action in line with the science. This internship will focus on two streams of work: raising ambition and operationalizing equity. The work on raising ambition involves encouraging countries to increase their efforts to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. The Climate Justice Dialogue is a project that aims to operationalize equity in the 2015 climate agreement.

The successful candidate will contribute to the work of the team and will be self-motivated and hard working with excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Responsibilities
  • 70% General Administrative Support
    • Provide administrative support in scheduling meetings, taking notes at internal and external meetings and coordinating follow-up actions as needed
    • Prepare document packages for key contacts
    • Assist in coordinating events onsite
    • Assist in maintaining records in WRI’s constituent database (Raiser’s Edge)
    • Process payment requests for consultants, grantees, partners, vendors, etc.
    • Support project manager in filing of expense reports and reimbursements for conference participants, displaying high-level organizational skills and coordinating between WRI’s internal departments

  • 30% Research and Analysis
    • Provide research assistance to the Climate Justice Dialogue and Blueprint 2015 team, which includes analysis on equity work and the collective climate action initiative
    • Draft and edit working papers, fact sheets, blogs and presentations on issues relevant to climate change.
    • Support outreach and communication efforts for the project, including liaising with key partners within governments, international institutions and NGOs.
Qualifications
  • Pursuing or recently earned Bachelor’s degree in environmental policy, international relations, law, public policy or related field.
  • Great attention to detail
  • Outstanding writing and editing skills and demonstrated mastery of oral and written. English are a must.
  • Understanding and interest in international climate policy
  • Ability to work well in a team, manage multiple priorities, take initiative, exercise good judgment in dealing with project partners, and deliver under tight deadlines
  • Understanding of Microsoft Office suite, internet applications, etc.

Compensation: This is an unpaid internship. 


Employment Period: Full-time for 3 months
