Description
The Explosive Technology Group (ETG) provides
diverse technical expertise and an agile, integrated approach to solve complex
challenges involving energetic materials. The organization has responsibility
for performing critical assessments of energetic materials throughout their
life cycles and pursuing state-of-the-art solutions for NW and WFO customers.
Explosive R&D activities include experimentation and computational
investigations to enhance fundamental understanding of initiation and
detonation physics. In addition, the organization is responsible for
establishing programmatic leadership and direction in support of Sandia?s Enterprise-wise
External Production Program.
Job Summary
Provides clerical support in an office environment
assisting with general administrative duties, which may include document
preparation, filing, making copies, data entry, ordering supplies, record
keeping, and other related assignments. The position is represented and
requires membership in the Office of Professional Employees & International
Union (OPEIU).

This position will directly support 2550's
Environmental, Safety, and Health (ES&H program) and will work primarily
with ES&H Coordinator to support administrative type functions and duties
related to ETG laboratories, including remote sites. Duties include, but are
not limited to, effectively interacting with laboratory staff, maintaining and updating
document databases, assisting with updating laboratory signage, performing
spot-checks regarding training, documents, permits, medical information, and
chemical inventory and will also assist with inventories, assessments, and
other duties as assigned. Primary work is conducted in an office environment,
but regular laboratory exposure is expected. Duties may involve running errands
to remote locations within Kirkland AFB.

General knowledge and good understanding of a
suite of software, including Microsoft Office.
Required
The successful candidate must meet the following
Sandia Student Intern Requirements: full-time enrollment (12 credit hours for
an undergraduate student), a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5/4.0, the ability to
work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per
week during the summer. Minimum 16 years of age. U.S. citizenship.
As a condition of employment, the selected
candidate must become a member of the Office Professional Employees
International Union (OPEIU) which requires monthly membership dues or agency
fees.
Must have Microsoft Office Suite and Sharepoint
experience. Clean driving record. Able to lift 30 lbs., willingness to work
within a laboratory setting. Must work well with minimum supervision, be
self-motivated, and exhibit the ability to multi-task and complete assignments
as directed.

Security Clearance
Position requires a Department of Energy
(DOE)-granted L-level security clearance.
Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a
pre-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law
enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education
verifications. Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a
DOE L-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
