The Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of Social Work,
Child Welfare and Social Policy has currently three vacant positions as PhD
Candidates. The nominal duration of the scholarship is three years.
The Department has 1200 students and 85 staff members and
has the leading academic environment within social work in Norway. The
Department is situated at Pilestredet Campus in Oslo.
Working area
The PhD positions are affiliated with the PhD Programme in
Social Work and Social Policy. As a PhD Candidate you will be involved in the
department’s research group.
It is preferable that the research project is related to perspectives within social work and social policy.

Qualifications and requirements
Required qualifications:
- Education
at second degree level/master’s degree level within social work, child
welfare or other relevant education within social sciences
- Fluency
in written and spoken English
- Ability
to work independently and goal-oriented
- Academic
committment
Desired background:
- Relevant
experience from research and development work
- Experiences
from publishing academic papers and participation in international
seminars/conferences
Conditions:
- The
PhD positions presuppose admission to the PhD Programme in Social Work and
Social Policy
- The
final plan for the PhD scholarship shall be approved and contractual no
later than 3 months after the commencement.
The outline of the PhD project will be emphasised in the
assessment of the applicants. The outline must show that the project will lead to
a doctoral degree within the three-year period. The project’s relevance
and current interest to the research area will also be emphasized. The outline
of the project may be written in a Scandinavian language or in English. The
outline should consist of maximuim10 pages and include the following elements:
- Research
questions, theory and method
- Relevant
knowledge of the research area
- Schedule
for the PhD work

Salary Scale, job code 1017, wage scale 50-54 (NOK 416 600-445.100).
