Community Organizers for the Disabled

The Help Network, a charity working with the disabled, seeks Local Area Managers

The Help Network (www.helpnetworkusa.org) recruits volunteers to spend an hour or more per week with a disabled, elderly or sick person. Please see our website for details on the program.

We are currently seeking volunteer/intern managers to set up volunteer networks in their areas. Local Area Managers (LAMs) will be assigned the following tasks:

-Establish a Help Network chapter in their locale

-Recruit additional managers and staff including Volunteer Coordinators

-Contact local social services non-profits and agencies to establish a database of individuals who might need assistance

-Recruit volunteers from local churches, services organizations, Greek societies, and college campuses to work with the disabled, elderly, and sick

-Conduct interviews and run background checks when necessary

-Maintain documentation and contact lists of volunteer and program participants

-Promote and network to grow the organization in your area

Education and Experience

-Experience handling and managing projects.

-Excellent Team Player

-Knowledge of Project Management Techniques and Tools

-Excellent Communication and Decision making skills.

-Ability to multitask and problem solving.

We can offer formal internship credit and require a six month minimum commitment of 5-10 hours per week.

Many disabled, elderly, and sick people in our communities are neglected and struggle with basic financial and personal resources to survive. The Help Network creates community and support for these individuals by linking them with volunteers who can help.
