Student Residential Facility Manager

The Young Women's International Institute requires a Student Residential Facility Manager to support 30-60 young Indian women studying the Global Skills Program (GSP) in Dharamshala, India. The GSP is a 12 month residential program so the students are required to live and study at a single facility for 10 months per year. The Student Residential Facility Manager is responsible for ensuring that the student accommodation is run efficiently, that standards of cleanliness and maintenance are upheld (in rooms, bathrooms and public areas), that budgets are controlled and that the cleaning, cooking and maintenance staff are well trained and managed.

The intern will be responsible for checking in and out students, ensuring that the residence is secure and that safety standards are maintained. They will be the first point of call to resolve operational issues and they will provide essential support to teaching and administration staff and interns. The intern will be responsible for coordinating the allocation of accommodation and resources, as well as the planning and management of student activities and events (catering, conferences, field trips, etc.).
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must have at least 12 months experience or qualifications in the fields of business management, hotel and hospitality management, administration, tourism or leisure studies. Experience working in a hotel, hostel or conference centre preferred.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
  • Excellent English skills
  • Understanding of OH&S and safety standards
  • Ability to liaise with students in a warm and polite manner
  • Ability to manage reservations and room allocations
  • Ability to maintain the hostel facilities in proper working order
  • Ability to respond to guest and staff feedback regarding broken or malfunctioning items
  • Ability to work in a multicultural/diverse environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision and to work as part of a team
  • Ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
  • IT skills including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Demonstrated group leadership and organisational skills
  • Willingness to accept feedback and supervision
YWII INTERNATIONAL INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
International interns are essential to many areas of our organisation. They provide global learning opportunities and a genuine cross-cultural experience for the students; and their passion and hard work drives our programs. The International Internship Program of YWII is designed to provide selected applicants with rewarding educational and learning experiences, as well as opportunities to contribute in one of several critical work areas in an educational institute in North India.
Interns will receive:

  • Ongoing mentoring and support from a dedicated onsite Intern Coordinator

  • Meals will also be provided to interns that live at the Student Residential Facility during the academic semester.
  • Long-term interns (12-24 months) will receive a small living stipend after 6 months service
NB. All interns are required to cover their own flights, visa, insurance and travel costs. YWII charges no weekly or monthly fees however we do ask all interns to pay a minimal one-off legal retainer/administration fee to cover our recruitment costs.
