Human Rights Internship

Our Human Rights internships range from working with highly-visible grassroots social movements to large multi-national non-profit organizations. Interns who are passionate about Human Rights can gain hands-on work experience that includes increasing people's access to basic services; promoting active citizenship and social justice; Human Rights education; policy, research, and writing; and community organizing.

Ideal Candidate

Possible Roles for an Intern

  • research
  • gathering of qualitative and quantitative data
  • data analysis
    writing reports, newspaper and journal articles
  • liaising with media
  • working with government officials
  • fundraising and donor relations
  • site visits and fieldwork
  • administration

Why it's Important

Inequalities created by apartheid-era injustices continue to plague South Africa today. Highly motivated individuals are needed to work in the field of human rights to support and develop creative solutions to today's social, political, and economic challenges.
Intern through if i could, an internship organization that seeks international candidates who want to intern in South Africa and gain valuable development experience. Our mission is to harness the skills of interns as well as organizations and equip them with the skills needed to further pursue developmental goals.
Note: there is a $1,200 USD fee included.

Location: Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa
Hours per week: 40
Compensation: Unpaid
