Shambala Fellowship Program

The Shambala Fellowship Program is designed to give those interested in international humanitarian work the opportunity to develop valuable skills in the humanitarian field while experiencing life in China's Yunnan province. Fellows will work for Shambala Foundation's main program Orphanage Without Walls, which serves severely impoverished orphans in western China.

Shambala Fellows should be individuals with a strong interest in humanitarian work who at least have a bachelor's degree or are in their senior year of college when applying. Applicants who have experience working as a volunteer with NGOs or who have studied a relevant subject that can be useful for Shambala Foundation are preferable. Such relevant areas of study include but are not limited to:
- International or Sustainable Development
- International Relations
- East Asian Studies
- Education
- Chinese Language
Applicants who have special skills or experience such as marketing, web-design, teaching, curriculum development, or fundraising are also especially encouraged to apply.
Fellows will receive a living stipend (3000RMB/month), a living area with utilities covered, travel to and from China, and travelers insurance. Fellows will arrive in Dali city of Yunnan province in China on July 15th, 2014 to begin working. Fellows will spend approximately eight months fundraising prior to arrival according to a plan they design and a goal they set with the help of Shambala Foundation staff. Once in Asia, Fellows will help with grant-writing, general program development, and our social enterprise teaching program.
