Save the Children
Summary
Under
guidance of the Education in Emergencies(EiE) Senior Specialist, the
intern will assist in drafting or refining key technical resources for
Save the Children U.S. EiE work, specifically focusing on Early Child
Development(ECD) in Emergencies Framework and points of intersection
with other sectors, specifically nutrition, child protection, and
livelihoods.
Responsibilities

Assist
in the development of key components of the ECD in Emergencies
Framework and Toolkit as identified by the EiE Senior Specialist and the
ECD Senior Specialist. This will include collaborating on guidance for
Country Offices in implementing HEART(Healing through Art), Essential
Package, and Pre-School programs in preparedness, response, and
transition phases in emergency programming.

Conduct
desk review of current and previous (1-2 years) Save the Children
emergency response programs to map EiE response and previous
collaboration and missed opportunities for collaboration with other
sectors.

Conduct
semi-structured interviews (with guidance and support from the EiE
Senior Specialist) with other sector focal points to elaborate on desk
review findings.

Draft recommendations synthesizing key findings
Requirements
-
In a MA program in Education, Sociology or other relevant field, preferably having completed at least one semester

Proven research and writing skills.

Ability to work independently and be creative in gathering information from a variety of sources.

Ability to conceptualize the application of guidance and best practice with education programs.

Experience in working with vulnerable or under-served communities.

Experience or interest in education in emergencies

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office

Must be eligible to work in the U.S.

Must be enrolled in a relevant graduate or post-graduate academic program

Must be able to receive credit from their college or institution. (A
minimum requirement is a letter from a professor supporting the
candidate. This is only needed when an internship is offered.)
