Summary
The Hunger and Livelihoods Department is looking for an intern to help support projects pertaining to the secondary research and knowledge management needs for the Skills to Succeed program.
Under Skills to Succeed, a global program supported by Accenture, Save the Children assists at-risk youth, ages 15-24, to acquire the skills and competencies they need to get a job or build a business. We work alongside young people, local NGOs, governments, and the private sector in multiple countries (China, Norway, Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, and the Philippines) to design and deliver market-relevant skill building opportunities, including vocational and technical, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and life skills training and mentoring. We also enhance the quality and reach of job placement services through apprenticeships, internships, youth guilds, job fairs, and social media job exchange platforms that link youth with opportunities to apply new skills and improve their prospects of securing safe and decent work.
 
Responsibilities
  • Map and compile inventory of existing youth education and employment programs across SC Members and County Offices (e.g., Education for Youth Empowerment, Youth Earning and Learning, and Skills to Succeed).
  • Develop an inventory of relevant training curriculum available within the SC programs or external organizations and post on internal knowledge sharing site
  • Develop a database/spreadsheet of papers/publications on relevant technical and research areas and post on knowledge sharing site
  • Provide support for developing learning and communication tools for Skills to Succeed
Research public and private donor opportunities to support program expansion, and research and learning priorities
 
Requirements
  • Currently pursuing a Masters degree in economics, business, education, International development or related field.
  • Previous experience working in development programs is a plus
  • Possess strong written skills, solid interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Must be enrolled in a relevant graduate or post-graduate academic program
  • Must be able to receive credit from their college or institution. (A minimum requirement is a letter from a professor supporting the candidate. This is only needed when an internship is offered.)
