Summary.
Save the Children’s Hunger and Livelihoods department is focused on empowering parents to provide for their children by improving the food supply, farming practices and finances of families in need.  The summer intern is expected to support the communications and knowledge management activities in the Hunger and Livelihoods Department.
Responsibilities
  • Research trends in youth financial services and disseminate findings internally and externally by writing blog posts for YouthSave, Save the Children’s signature program around youth savings
  • Coordinate with country office and project staff to develop one page briefs on current and previous programs in the fields of food security and economic development
  • Gather and write content for Hunger and Livelihoods newsletter
  • Other tasks as needed
Requirements
  • Currently pursuing a degree in economics, business, education, International development or related field.
  • Good written communications skills
  • Previous experience working in development programs is a plus
  • Must be enrolled in a relevant undergraduate, graduate or post-graduate academic program,
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Must be able to receive credit from their college or institution. (A minimum requirement is a letter from a professor supporting the candidate. This is only needed when an internship is offered.)
  • Possess strong written skills, solid interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
