Summary
Come join a fun and dynamic team of communications professionals, and make a positive impact in the lives of children in need. Help us build relationships with media, bloggers and social network participants, learn strategies for reaching diverse audiences through traditional and new media, and be a part of a fast-moving, creative team.

Responsibilities
  • Compile and distribute daily email of traditional and online media coverage and blog postings
  • Track issues related to Save the Children in online media, and compile daily email
  • Track, capture and distribute video coverage
  • Produce quarterly and special campaign media reports 
  • Research and update media contacts and media distribution lists in media database
  • Distribute news releases and alerts through media database
  • Assist in posting news releases and photos/captions to the web media center by entering information into online form
  • Help with pitching story ideas to the media and to bloggers
  • Assist in drafting communication such as media advisories, press releases, blogs, articles and photo captions.
  • Assist with research and communications for special projects and campaigns
  • Provide assistance in following up/fulfilling requests for information
  • Scan in/capture and distribute print and online news stories
  • Maintain online media library of press materials, media coverage and electronic files
  • Participate in team meetings, “brown bag” discussions and webinars, and take notes for department
  • Perform other duties, as assigned
 
Requirements
  • Applicants must be enrolled in college, preferably studying public relations, journalism, English or communications.
  • Applicants must be attentive to detail, organized, energetic and be able to manage multiple tasks. 
  • Experience working with databases and other computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite products, media database software, web software and new media program
  • Possess strong written skills, solid interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Must be able to receive credit from their college or institution. (A minimum requirement is a letter from a professor supporting the candidate. This is only needed when an internship is offered.)
