Summary
The Foundations and Trusts unit's mission is to cultivate long-term relationships and mobilize resources from private foundations and trusts. We are constantly prospecting new relationships, strengthening ongoing relationships, and working closely with our Save the Children colleagues to get quality program information for our donors.  We do all this in pursuit of funding for Save the Children's programs.
The Foundations & Trusts Department is looking for an Intern who will work on various projects for the Foundations & Trusts Department. The intern will have the opportunity to lead his/her own project as well as assist on projects and tasks with the department.
Responsibilities
  • Review “lapsed” foundations to ascertain if any can be re-cultivated
  • Learn how to conduct prospect research
  • Support the solicitation of undesignated funding through donor communications, mailings and research
  • Assist with efforts relating to emergency fundraising and special events communication with donors
  • Learn about  our donor  database and help record information
  • Learn how to make donor phone calls and assist.
  • Help research and investigate updates regarding grant making, including the Chronicle of Philanthropy and foundation news for dissemination to the F& T team.
  • Other projects as needed
 
Requirements
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Possess strong written skills, solid interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Must be enrolled in a relevant undergraduate, graduate or post-graduate academic program
  • Must be able to receive credit from their college or institution. (A minimum requirement is a letter from a professor supporting the candidate. This is only needed when an internship is offered.)
