Summary
The Humanitarian Logistics Intern will learn and be responsible for supporting Home and Country Office logistics activities and improvement of systems.
 
Responsibilities
  • Review of logistics systems and production of tracking sheets and other guidance documents, data entry for supply chain management,  procurement support and vendor identification. Production of training materials for home office staff and SC’s supply chain management system.
  • Support for systems improvement for Aidmatrix system including: oProduction of training materialsoProducing and analyzing system generated supports to improve efficiency of supply chain.
  • Backstopping for warehousing in Miami (and Panama).
  • Global support for procurement backstopping. This would include a.) coordinating tenders including posting documents, organizing bid opening committees, and contracts b.) support to procurement tracking and finalizing payments c.) streamlining procurement systems across Save the Children alliance members
  • Produce and maintain stocks and recharge purchasing for go kits for emergencies (including satphones and other IT equipment). Suggest improvements in supplies.
  • Production of tenders in line with global supply strategy
  • Vendor list management         
  • Review of global logistics trends (log cluster, WFP, UNICEF, etc.) and information to improve support to country offices
  • WFP/UN Logistics Working Group calls
 
Requirements
  • Interest in Humanitarian Management, preferably logistics
  • Flexible with the ability to multi-task
  • Possess strong written skills, solid interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Must be enrolled in a relevant  graduate or post-graduate academic program
  • Must be able to receive credit from their college or institution. (A minimum requirement is a letter from a professor supporting the candidate. This is only needed when an internship is offered.)
