Summary
We are looking for a summer intern to help support the Department of Child Protection & HIV/AIDS staff in ongoing technical, grants management and documentation efforts, and other activities as assigned.
 
Responsibilities
  • Working closely with technical staff, support the development of Child Protection and HIV & AIDS-specific technical documents, position papers, or activity/research reports, including background research, writing, proofing and seeking input from others.
  • Support proposal development efforts, including Past Performance and Contractor Performance reports, staff skills matrices, budget notes, and staff biodata forms.
  • Support the team in the development of departmental reports, concept papers, and Powerpoint presentations for both internal and external audiences.  
  • Provide wide-ranging planning and logistical support to the Department’s participation in regional and international meetings and events.
  • Provide ongoing administrative support to the team during busy periods - such as updating of the team travel calendar, booking meeting times and conference rooms, and taking meeting notes. 
Key Deliverables:             
  • 1-2 Technical documents developed.
  • At least one proposal supported.
  • Reports and other team deliverables developed and updated according to deadlines.  
  • Logistical support provided for at least one meeting or event.
Requirements
  • Motivated self-starter, native English speaker.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work effectively with a remote team.
  • Experience with logistical and administrative support highly desirable.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Some familiarity with public health issues, Child Protection and HIV & AIDS preferred.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Publisher, online databases and/or other technical applications strongly preferred.
  • Must be enrolled in a relevant undergraduate, graduate or post-graduate academic program,
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Must be able to receive credit from their college or institution. (A minimum requirement is a letter from a professor supporting the candidate. This is only needed when an internship is offered.)
  • Possess strong written skills, solid interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
