Diagnosis of Constraints to Inclusive Economic Growth


Summary of Job Description
The intern will support ERD, in particular EREA staff in the conduct of Country Diagnostic Study. The intern will be asked to undertake a diagnosis to inclusive economic growth in one of the countries under the TA- Country Diagnostic Studies in Selected DMCs. The intern will make use of the various data sets and information available to diagnose constraints to economic growth and inclusiveness by using the various frameworks being utilized in the conduct of diagnostic studies in ADB. The expected output will be a report on the overarching analysis describing the findings of the diagnosis and to present a case on what may be the most binding or critical constraints to the country’s economic growth and its inclusiveness. Intern is also expected to make a presentation on the analysis and revise the report incorporating comments from ERD/EREA staff.

Expected Outcomes

  • Report on the overaching diagnosis for s selected DMC.
  • Presentation of the findings.

Educational Requirements:

Candidates must:
  • be enrolled preferably in a PhD degree program with a Masters degree in Economics, at a school in one of the ADB member countries, both prior to and after the internship assignment.
  • be engaged in academic study in a field directly related to ADB's work.

Relevant Experience And Other Requirements:

The intern should have a strong background in Economics.

Other Information
  • Position reports to assigned Professional Staff Supervisor.
  • Candidates must be a national of one of ADB’s member countries.
  • Past interns are ineligible to apply in subsequent years.
  • Close relatives of ADB personnel are ineligible to apply but ADB spouses may apply if the eligibility requirements are met.
  • Internship duration is 26 weeks.
  • Assignment is from June to December 2013.
