Summary
The Public Policy & Advocacy (PPA) department  is looking for a student  to serve as a Global Development and International Education Policy intern.   S/he will serve  in supporting the education advocacy work and the post Millennium Development Goals (MDG) framework.  This individual will report directly to the development policy and advocacy team in DC.  S/he will also assist in daily activities and, with guidance from staff, work on a variety Public Policy & Advocacy projects during her/his internship at Save the Children. 
 
Responsibilities
  • Conduct research on public policy, advocacy, and related issues
  • Attend Congressional hearings and briefings as well as NGO coalition working group meetings of InterAction members
  • Provide administrative support as needed to Public Policy & Advocacy (scanning, mailing, copying, etc)
  • S/he will have the opportunity to attend agency meetings covering Save the Children’s programs 
 
Requirements
  • We are looking for someone who has demonstrated an interest in public policy, advocacy, international development, and foreign policy
  •  Must be enrolled in a relevant undergraduate, graduate or post-graduate academic program,
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Must be able to receive credit from their college or institution. (A minimum requirement is a letter from a professor supporting the candidate. This is only needed when an internship is offered.)
  • Possess strong written skills, solid interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.

Classification
Unpaid Intern               Part-time:  21-28 hours/week   Dates:  June 3, 2013 to August 9, 2013
