Description
GENERAL FUNCTIONUnder the supervision of the Internet Access Project Director, the Intern will help produce the Global Digital Download, a weekly publication that highlights trends in digital and social media that intersect with freedom of expression, privacy, policy and censorship.
Ideal candidates are undergraduate students with an interest in internet freedom, policy and international development.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor and aggregate news, research and events related to online freedom of expression, privacy, policy and censorship.
- Help maintain the Global Digital Download webpage on the Internews website.
- Distribute weekly Global Digital Download newsletter to Internews staff, partners and other subscribers.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Excellent analytical and research skills
- Proven organizational skills, with attention to detail
- Proven time management skills, with ability to consistently meet strict deadlines
- Background in internet freedom, media development, political science, international relations or communications.
- Experience with website editing; knowledge of Drupal preferred.
LEVEL OF EFFORT: 10-20 hours/week
