Summary
The Public Policy & Advocacy (PPA)department  is looking for a student  to serve as a Global Development Policy and Monitoring and Evaluations intern.   S/he will serve in the Public Policy & Advocacy (PPA) department providing support for our work around the UN General Assembly and our monitoring and evaluations tools.  This individual will report directly to the development policy and advocacy team in DC.  S/he will also assist in daily activities and, with guidance from staff, work on a variety Public Policy & Advocacy projects during her/his internship at Save the Children. 
 
Responsibilities
  • Conduct research on public policy, advocacy, and related issues
  • Provide administrative support as needed to Public Policy & Advocacy (scanning, mailing, copying, etc)
  • S/he will have the opportunity to attend agency meetings covering Save the Children’s programs 
  • Collect and write up greater in-depth case stories of successful advocacy for placement on Save the Children’s best practices web site.
  • Compile data from the Save the Children Advocacy Measurement Tool
 
Requirements
 
  • We are looking for someone who has demonstrated an interest in public policy, advocacy, international organizations and governing bodies, and international development
  •  Must be enrolled in a relevant undergraduate, graduate or post-graduate academic program, we prefer candidates who are juniors or seniors.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Must be able to receive credit from their college or institution. (A minimum requirement is a letter from a professor supporting the candidate. This is only needed when an internship is offered.)
  • Possess strong written skills, solid interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • To receive full consideration, applications must be received by March 31st 2013.

Unpaid Intern               Part-time:  21-28 hours/week   Dates:  June 3, 2013 to August 9, 2013
