The objectives of the Internship Programme are to promote
among the participants a better understanding of the United Nations and
of the World Food Programme.
Internships provide Divisions at Headquarters, Country Offices or Liaison Offices with the assistance of students specializing in fields relevant to WFP activities.
WFP maintain CVs of eligible applicants in a database for one year or until the end of enrolment in the University, whichever comes first. If during this period an internship opportunity arises, candidates will be contacted directly by the Hiring Unit/Manager. Internship assignment period should be equivalent to a study term and not to exceed the end of enrolment in the University, whichever comes first.
The internship assignment is subject to the demand from Hiring Divisions/Managers. Therefore, there is no guarantee of placement even if applicants meet all the requirements for the Internship Programme.
WFP will provide a maximum stipend of USD700 per month (depending on the location of the assignment). Expenses due to travel and living maintenance will not be covered by WFP.

- Have completed at least two years’ undergraduate studies
- Be currently enrolled in a University or graduate school and have attended courses in the last 12 months
- Fluency in English. Fluency in another WFP official working language may be an additional requirement in some duty stations
- Sons, daughters, brothers or sisters of WFP employees will not be considered eligible for this programme
