Summary
Save the Children’s U.S. Programs seeks an unpaid intern to work part- or full-time as a valuable member of our Resource Development team.  The Intern will assist the Manager, Associate Director, and Director of Resource Development with the preparation of grant proposals and reports, as well as web-based research to identify potential new foundation donors.  Significant time will be spent editing and sometimes drafting solicitation materials -- in particular, case studies to be edited and uploaded to a web-based database and used in grant reports, newsletters, and other external communications.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in copy-editing and drafting of various external communications, including concept notes and grant proposals and reports.
  • Identify needs within domestic programs and work proactively with Resource Development Division to research potential new private funders and secure contributions. 
  • Conduct background research on prospective funders and prepare background briefings for USP Resource Development staff.
 
Requirements
  • Have very strong written communication, organization, and web-research skills.
  • Be able to work independently, prioritize assigned duties, and multitask when necessary.
  • Possess a high standard of professionalism and propriety, and strong attention to detail.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Must be enrolled in a relevant undergraduate, graduate or post-graduate academic program
  • Must be able to receive credit from their college or institution. (A minimum requirement is a letter from a professor supporting the candidate. This is only needed when an internship is offered.)
