There’s lots for you to choose from:
- Primate volunteer – help to study the resident tribe of capuchin monkeys. Spend your days in the forest helping with trail cutting, GPS locating and collecting data on their day-to-day movements and behaviour.
- Museum – Great at organising and like putting things into the correct order? Help out in the Para La Tierra museum. Spend the hottest part of the day in the shade helping to prepare specimens, telling tourists about our collection and updating our databases and displays.
- Community outreach and environmental awareness – help with organisation and demonstration of Para La Tierra’s workshops for local children and adults (Spanish required). If there is no workshop planned during your stay, help with recycling projects and the organic vegetable garden.
- Butterflies and moths – help to build our inventory of some of the most stunning creatures found at Laguna Blanca. Enjoy a walk around the forest in the morning with a butterfly net and stay close to the moth light at night to see what interesting species you can find. You might even discover a new species for science!
- Reserve management – help out as a ranger to guide tourists (Spanish an advantage) and maintain the trails in the reserve.
- Photography and film – help to document the globally endangered habitats at Laguna Blanca and the species that live in them. Add to our photographic database and help demonstrate to the world how special Reserva Natural Laguna Blanca really is.
